Diamonds Dancers (Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm, ages 14-18)

The Diamonds Dance team is a performance-based team for teenage men and ladies.  Dancers on this team are taught to be:

D- Dedicated

I- Innovative 

A- Artistically expressive

M- Multidimensional 

O- Optimistic 

N- Numinous

D-  Distinctive

S- Socially/Culturally  Competent

Members of this team must be willing to learn various types of international dance, display good conduct in school and dance, be a positive team player, and take their education/learning seriously. Failure to do so can result in suspension from the team or a possible expulsion. This class involves writing and student choreography projects. The instructor will give more details about this at the start of the class.

Auditions for this team are usually held the first or second week of August. Dancers are asked to wear a black tank, leotard, or sports bra and black leggings so we can clearly see their lines. Dancers are chosen based on:

-Technique

-Execution of Cross-the-floor/Center  combinations

 -Level of flexibility

-Improvisational dance

-Attitude/Conduct

NOTE: Along with the dance audition, students will need to submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher at  their current school or a mentor (that will be verified) to be accepted on the team.

Dancers will be participating in different festivals, parades, competitions and performances. Parents or guardians are expected to take care of any fees related to costumes, entry fees, travel costs, and/ or team apparel for these events.
